Qatar Islamic Insurance Group (QIIG) is built on the foundational principles of cooperative and ethical insurance, aligning every aspect of our operations with the principles of Islamic Sharia. Unlike conventional insurance, which operates for shareholder profit, QIIG operates on a mutual model where policyholders contribute premiums that are considered donations, creating a collective fund from which claims are settled.

At the end of the year, any remaining surplus, after covering expenses, is not retained by the company or its shareholders. Instead, it is distributed back to policyholders as cash dividends or other forms of distribution, reflecting the cooperative and transparent nature of our business model.

Our operations are distinct in their separation between shareholder and policyholder funds. Shareholders invest the insurance funds, represented by retained surpluses, reserves, and provisions, on behalf of the policyholders. Shareholders are rewarded with a pre-agreed percentage of the profits from these investments, ensuring a fair and ethical distribution while maintaining compliance with Islamic principles.

A significant growth area for us is Takaful, the Islamic alternative to life insurance. Takaful aligns with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who emphasized the importance of providing for one's family. This form of insurance is designed to protect families from financial hardships arising from the unexpected loss or permanent disability of a breadwinner. With the global reduction in state-funded welfare, Takaful plays an increasingly vital role in providing financial security for families and loved ones.
