Doha, March 16 (QNA) – Qatar Charity raised more than QAR 40 million in donations during the “Night 27 Challenge” campaign to implement life-saving humanitarian medical initiatives in several countries around the world in addition to the State of Qatar.

In a statement issued today, Qatar Charity said that the donations reached the campaign’s target during the three-hour fundraising event, which was broadcast live on YouTube to coincide with the 27th night of the holy month of Ramadan.

This year’s “Night 27 Challenge” was held under the slogan “Def‘at Bala’” (A Push Against Hardship), with media participation from influencer Abdullah Al-Ghafr and media personality Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Harmi, who helped encourage community engagement and mobilize support during the challenge hours. The event also included participation from several influencers, doctors, and supporting medical platforms and centers.

The challenge this year focused on the health sector, in response to the rising number of critical cases requiring urgent medical intervention in high-need countries. The supported health initiatives include performing open-heart surgeries, correcting congenital defects in children, treating eye diseases and conducting related surgeries under the “Absar” initiative to restore eyesight, cochlear implant surgeries for children with hearing loss to enable them to hear and communicate, and treating cases of severe malnutrition among children.

The initiatives also include medical and therapeutic interventions within Qatar to support patients suffering from chronic diseases and critical health conditions, contributing to saving lives and creating new recovery stories.

Through the “Night 27 Challenge,” Qatar Charity aims to carry out around 6,770 surgical operations, in addition to providing treatments for malnutrition and supporting cancer patients in Qatar, as part of a wide-impact humanitarian project that will touch the lives of thousands of patients and their families. The campaign is expected to benefit 7,737 patients.
