Doha, October 28 (QNA) - United Development Company (UDC) announced its participation in the 11th Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW 2026) with six environmental, educational, and community initiatives across its destinations from October 31 to November 7.

In a statement Wednesday, UDC said its participation supports Qatar Sustainability Week, led by Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future, and reflects its ongoing commitment to making sustainability part of everyday life.

The initiatives, taking place on The Pearl and Gewan Islands, will bring together residents, employees, families, and partners through activities promoting environmental awareness, community engagement, and social responsibility, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

UDC's Executive Director of Public Services ‏Abdullatif Ali Al Yafei‏ said the event offers an opportunity to turn sustainability from a concept into a practical experience, with this year's program combining environmental action, learning, and community participation.

The program begins October 31 with the Sustainability Ambassadors Race. The same day, the "The Pearl Through Our Children's Eyes" exhibition will open in Qanat Quartier, featuring 50 paintings, recycled-art pieces, and environmental sculptures.

The program will also include awareness sessions on the mangrove forest restoration project at Gewan Island's Cluster 5, supported by educational content on Qatar's mangrove ecosystems.

Community initiatives include the "Give Your Books a Second Chance" book donation campaign and "Plant Today for a Greener Tomorrow," an activity offering participants opportunities to learn about gardening.

Environmental efforts will also include a plastic recycling initiative. New this year, UDC will introduce a smart biodigester system on The Pearl to convert food waste into fertilizer using advanced scientific methods. (QNA)
